Hi Katie, Great news that you have a new job, the very best of luck with that. Yes, I agree with you, it is a wonderful feeling when you realise that you are not going mad and that "it" finally has a name, and it does boost your confidence when you know what you are dealing with. Keep up with the positive attitude, it is an asset to have.
Hi Katie- what a story! These days disability legislation means that most employers bend over backwards to accommodate us. Where I work I am a bit of a trophy and get wheeled out to talk to Investors in People inspectors etc. However you should be aware that anxiety can aggravate your MG symptoms. It can be an infuriating cycle of getting worried about a symptom which only makes it worse. Don't look for a very dramatic improvement in your symptoms as you start meds. It does work for some but not others; and some medication can take months, even years to fully take effect. If one doesn't work there are lots of others to try that can be much more beneficial for you. Try to focus on your new confidence at work and try to do the things you really enjoy to keep your spirits up. I used to love sport and walking outdoors. Now I can't do either I got very frustarted at first, but have learned to enjoy watching sport and just sitting outdoors watching the wildlife. Birdwatching is great fun- if you have a garden fill it with bird feeders!
Very best wishes to you! ---------- Laurence in London
